Penny Samociuk
PENNY SAMOCIUK - ARTIST
Penny was born and raised in Zambia although family originally from Wales. She studied art and design as mature student, at the Johannesburg Art foundation in South Africa and the vibrant African colour and imagery has been a big influence in her colourful painting and drawing. She worked as an independent Graphic Designer for several years in England before moving back to the family’s roots in Wales in 1999.
Working mostly in acrylic using brush, pallet knife and often fingers, Penny naturally prefers to paint on a large scale. Her need to create movement and drama using expressive colour and energetic mark making is evident in all her work whether vast cosmic expanses, seascapes, landscapes or portraiture.
